Nehir graduated with a bachelor's degree from Ege University in Bioengineering. She continued with an M.Sc. degree in Biocomposite Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Horzum at Izmir Kâtip Celebi University. The topic of her thesis was “Development of Wound Dressings with Bioactive Components”. She received a Ph.D. degree from the Biological Sciences, Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. At the beginning of 2025, she joined Tom McDonald’s group as a postdoc within the scope of the TÜBİTAK – International Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program for Turkish Citizens. She is currently working on the development of bioactive agent–containing nanoemulsions and nanoemulsion–based hydrogel as drug delivery systems and the evaluation of their wound healing performance.
